I get a new one (rebuilt) but they don't even last me a month! So as of know I removed the smoke pump and the idler pulley. And now my belt tensioner goes out on me as well it makes noice is it cus am missing the idler pulley? What can I do so I won't have that problem? Any help al appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand. Have you removed the idler pulley?

First, the air pump is part of the emissions system and is required by federal law. As far as the belt, are you sure the belt is the right length not that you have changed things?

Yes the belt is the correct size. Without the smoke pump n the idler pulley
My mechanic told me I could out on the smoke pump just for the smoke check. So rite now let's forget about the smoke pump.
My concern is right now why does my belt tensioner goes out on me so quick? Like I said I don't have the smoke pump or idler pulley

When installed, is the tensioner fully extended or nearly fully collapsed? I hate to say it, but I feel it has something to do with the belt size. What else would cause it?

The tensioner rides on a spring so it can move. However, there should be a good bit of tension on it.
