1990 Chevrolet Corsica car stalled and wouldnt start

Car was runnung well then made a weird noise at stop light stalled when pushed the gas started but wouldnt move dow shifted and ti stalled again then wouldnt start. After some time passed it started and drove fine, transmission fluid smells burnt. What could be the problem?

Did the check engine light come on? Also, when the car doesn't restart, you need to check for spark and fuel to the engine. One will most likely be missing.

As far as the trans fluid smelling burnt, you may want to consider having it serviced.
