1990 Buick Riviera Engine won't start

Car has not been driven for a month in garage. Tried to start today and engine turns OK and it try's to start but it seems like it is coughing or backfiring. It started to start for about 2 seconds but stop. The car started OK the last time I drove it. Thanks Rich.

Rich:
First, check to make sure the fuel pump pressure is within the manufacturer's specs. It may be weak. If that is good, I have to ask when the last tune up was done.
