I am replacing my stock air box with cone filter and custom heat shield.

From the stock air box comes a hose that goes down and attaches to the bottom of the intake manifold.
This is a second hose, different from the one that has the mass air flow sensor.

Can I block off the hole at the bottom of the intake manifold or should I re-plumb to a different location?

Is this a small diameter hose? Does it connect to a pod at the air filter box?

I don't have my Audi manuals handy right now, but it is probably just a vacuum hose to control warm air flow from around exhaust manifold to enter the air box. In that case, just plug the hose and set to the side where it won't get caught in anything.
