Hello,

Inside fuel tank. Remove the rear seat cushion for the access (service) hole

Please let me know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Best, Ken

Engine Mechanical problem
1989 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 165, 00 miles

I have an 89 corolla thats carburated, 1.6L engine. I am having the fuel pump replaced but I have a few questions.
I'm guessing its mechanical since its carburated but I'm not sure. Is it most likely mechanical?
Also I'm not sure if it is located in the tank or outside?

Your help is appreciated

The electric fuel pump is contained within the fuel tank. On 1988-92 models, it is necessary to remove the fuel tank from the vehicle in order to reach the pump. This is not a do-it-yourself repair so please do not attempt to repair unless you have experience to do so. Fuel pump is something that you would NOT want to buy used. I suggest purchasing dealer recommended fuel pump as other brand fuel pumps have a tendency to fail much quicker.

Short Fp and +B on diagnostic link, fuel pump should run, if it does, then most likely not a fuel issue.

You can test FP by shorting +b and Fp on diagnostic link. If pump runs, then fuse, relay, if not, then pump. Or wiring to it.

1994 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 150000 miles

Toyota Corolla 94'. Engine stalled then wont fire. Good spark, compression. When I spray a fuel into air cleaner it will run then die when I stop. Removed fuel lines to engine and nothing comes out, how ever I dont know the location of the fuel pump. Is it in the tank, where do I access it from? Cheers

Hi there,

The fuel pump is an in tank pump which you access via a cover plate under the rear seat.

Might have an access thru the trunk or the backseat-if not siphon the fuel then drop it.
