I am wanting to buy a 89 Saab 900 and the owner says that he had replaced the head gasket on it and then it wouldnt start. Thinks that it might be the starter and that sounds about right to me. But what else Could be the problem?

the belt may have been installed incorrectly causing engine damage.

before considering this purchase, have the owner put it in running condition for you or walk away
