I bought this 1989 xjs jaguar the car start up after turning over for a few. It run for about 3 or 4 min then die. I let it set then do the same thing. I notice when it do that I check the firing in there is no fire at distrubitor or coils

Check crank sensor for resistance. However we have not info on any ignition component. You migh ttry dumping cold water on ignition box on fender well if car starts it's bad probably. I fyou have a manual there may be more detailed info on crank sensor etc. Just guess I would say 400-800 ohms ok higher no good but you can also check against a new one as well. Of course do the normal checks like dist cap for cracks/carbon tracing, coil resistance etc.
