1989 325e BMW sometimes hard to start sometimes stalls sitting at a light and pulses sometimes when driving I pump gas pedal 2-3times then stops pulsing

Sounds like the governor. This is a part which idles the car to stop it stalling and stop it over revving it self. Im no expert on beemers but its a 1989 model so im guessing its a mechanical governor which works off the speed of the flywheel. Other types of governor include Pnuematic, electronic & Hydraulic. If you next take it to your mechanics and mention the symptoms and that you may think its the govenor it may help. Good luck.

The Idle control valve and the idle control module are the problem.
