I have a 1988 gmc suburban serria classic 2500. It needs a new computer. These computers have the old prom chips. Can I get another computer with a correctly programmed prom chip in it or can I pull the one out of the old computer and switch it?

You normally pop the chip out of the old computer and plug it into the replacement computer.
