I have a Chrysler Le Baron 2.5L with 60k original miles. It starts and idles perfect, but after going about half a block, it stops accerlerating and starts stalling, until I take my foot off the gas, and as soon as I put my foot back on the gas, it starts doing it again. This car sat in a garage for 5 years, I've had the gas tank cleaned out, had the fuel pressure checked, changed the ignition coil, distributor cap, and rotor. I took it to a Chrysler dealer, they hooked it up and said the power brake booster needed to be replaced and that was all. I replaced that and it's still doing it.

This sounds like a plugged catalytic converter. While it's idling, listen at the tail pipe. If you hear more of a hiss than the normal "putt putt" of the exhaust, suspect the converter. There is a tool for measuring exhaust back pressure that can identify a plugged converter.

When the fuel pressure was checked, was that just done while the engine was idling or was the gauge connected and observed during a test drive while the problem was acting up?
