1988 Chevrolet Silverado Wire

My truck wont start and when it does its smoking so I checked under the hood and its the wire that says fusible link 9 was burning and ended up splitting in half. Please help

A fusible link works the same as a fuse. If too much power goes through it, it melts down. It is designed to do that. Try replacing it to see if a new one does the same thing. Either the old one was worn and went bad, or there was a short or too much voltage being supplied to it.

I will assume the wire you are referring to is around the alternator. Is that correct? If so, you need to check alternator output. The regulator may have gone bad and caused it to over charge. Disconnect the battery, remove the alternator, and have a parts store bench check it. Let me know the results.

Its 6 diffrent on the firwall its the one in the middle I really dont know ive never had anything like this before lol

Okay, I need to see a picture of what you are working on. Please keep in mind, if you are not comfortable with working with the electrical system of the vehicle, you shouldn't do it. A short can lead to a fire.
