What effect will a bad catalytic convertor have on engine performance

If it's blocked it will cause it to be slow and not perform as well. Checkenginevacuum an difit'slow-15"or less @ idle, then disconnect it and see if itgoes up. If it does then teh converter is partially blocked or blocked.
