I have a 1986 2.4 Nissan Hardbody pickup. I'm working on replacing the power steering idler pulley after the bearings on the old one blew out, but the old one damaged the flashing around the bolt that holds the pulley in place so much that I can't access the bolt to loosen it and get the thing out of there. The metal is kind of bunched around the bolt. Any suggestions?

You're just going to have to bend or cut the pulley out of the way.

Do you think if I bent that flashing out of the way that it would need replacing after or be fine to bend back?

I don't know what you're referring to as "flashing"

Sorry. The shaped metal piece between the head of the bolt and the pulley. I think its part of the post, but I think if I can pull it out I could probably just use a washer in its place.

That is just a washer but it's shaped so it doesn't rub on the pulley so make sure whatever you use doesn't rub.
