Just got a manual trans. Car and am tired of shifting so much. Can I go from 1st to 3rd without harming car? Thanks for answering.

I would stick to shifting through the gears because you will not gain anything (power, fuel economy, etc) in the trade off. You can also reduce the life of the clutch and powertrain.

Use all the gears that are there. It is easier on the vehicle.
