86 Ford 4.9L distributor problems

Changed the distributor and forgot to mark the old one, bumped the ignition before the new one was completly set. And I cannot get the engine to turn freely to put it at top dead center

Take out plugs and earth coil lead, place a finger over No1 plug, crank engine in clicks only until you feel compression build up, then turn engine by hand until you see the timing mark reach TDC, this will be good enough to set the distributor for a start then do a timing check.

Ok I got it 10degrees btdc and have the rotor set to spark plug no. 1 but I dont have enough battery to crank it now, thank u for the advice
