Car tends to want to turn off when engine light is on, while driving or at a stop. What could be the problem?

If the check engine light is on, you have a trouble code stored in the computer that will identify where the problem is coming from. What you need to do is have the computer scanned. Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free. Have that done and let me know what you find.
