You dont. There isn't a provision to read stored faults because they didn't do that in 1986 on the Eta cars. However, you could tell me what the problem is, or what it's doing. I might be able to help.

Hello Dr. Hagerty,
i have a 1986 bmw 325. It over heated on me and most lights came on, check ingine, inspection, brake fuid, battery lights and one more that I dont remember. I only had for three weeks the this happened. I believe that it over heated because the thermostat, I will change that out but how do I get rid of the lights and the check engine light.
