I have an 85 Pontiac Fiero 2.8 l v6. When the car is cold it seems to run and idle just fine however when the car warms up the idle becomes very unsteady and eventually the car will stall. The car also tends to run hot and sometimes it will overheat. On occasion I will receive a check engine light and the code always tells me to change the e g r valve which I have done 2 times without any change to its poor performance. What do I need to do to solve this problem?

Run a wire through egr port and see if it is partially plugged, clean throttle plate on both sides with choke cleaner and iac hole. Check fuel pressure with a gauge should be 41-47 psi if it's a tbi unit should be 9-11psi. Pressure check coolant system for leaks it may be ahead gasket or a broken head bolt the 4 cylinders used to do that
