Check the enjecter fuse. Check all fuses in and outside. You need a multi meter or teat light to varify voltage just looking isnt gonna help.

THIS A CARB?

HOW ABOUT FUSIBLE LINKS?

THEY ARE SORTA LIKE A "WIRE FUSE"--SOME ARE MARKED--SOME ARE NOT

I DON'T KNOW HOW YOUR RIG IS SET UP

I DO JEEP CJs, THEIR FUSIBLE LINKS ARE ON THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE SIDE OF THE SOLENOID......YOU MAY HAVE 'EM IN OTHER LOCATIONS

DISREGARD, ALL OF THE CRAP TOWARDS THE TOP OF THIS LINK, NEARER TO THE BOTTOM I EXPLAIN AND SHOW MY JEEP FUSIBLE LINKS

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/1992-ford-ranger-wont-start

I REALLY HOPE YOU CORRECTLY INSTALLED YOUR DISTRIBUTOR, IF NOT, NOW WE HAVE ANOTHER FACTOR THAT MIGHT BE PLAYING IN....IF IN DOUBT, LET US KNOW...WE CAN TALK YOU THRU CORRECT INSTALLATION

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND OUT ABOUT THE LINKS

WE AIN'T GOING NO WHERE...MAY BE ABLE TO TALK YOU THRU MORE TESTING.........YOU DID FIX YOUR SHORT????

Yes I fixed the short and checked multiple fusable links. I have tested for voltage and resistance in all the parts I replaced.I am reciving the parts off of an identical parts truck and it ran like a champ so I know that all the ignition system is in running condition

I'M GONNA HANG WITH YOU A LITTLE BIT LONGER.0200 EASTERN HERE, SLEEPY!

ROGER ON STUFF WORKING. IN OTHER RIG. STUFF CAPABLE ON YOURS, IF CONDITIONS WERE THE SAME AS OTHER RIG

IF YOU HAD YOUR DISTRIBUTOR IN WRONG YOU WOULD STILL GET A SPARK. AT THE WRONG TIME AND WRONG PLACE (SURE IT'S IN CORRECT. ANYWAY?)

NOT TRYING TO MAKE YOU MAD.I CANNOT SEE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE FROM HERE!

A) KEY ON, TEST POS COIL---RESULTS?

B) TEST DISTRIBUTOR PICK UP

I HAVE HOMEMADE PICS. BEAR WITH THEM.I REALLY TRY HARD!
