'm having problems with my solenoid on my 82 mustang. I put a new one on it yesterday and it ran fine for awhile, but when i shut it off and tried to crank. It would crank just made a clicking sound. Ive replaced everything a few months ago, but ive put countless solenoids for the past 10 years.

HERE'S THE POSSIBILITIES

CHECK EVERY CONNECTION-BOLTED-SQUEEZED-CLAMPED ETC....SPARE NONE!!! TAKE 'EM LOOSE, CLEAN 'EM, TIGHTEN THEM WELL!!!! THIS IS ALL BATTERY CABLE SIZED CABLES LEAVING THE BATTERY, TILL THEY REACH THE STARTER (POS SIDE) AND SAME GOES FOR THE NEG SIDE TO THE ENGINE.

INSURE YOUR BATTERY IS UP TO SNUFF AND YOUR STARTER TOO. YOU CAN HAVE BOTH TESTED AT A POPULAR AUTO PARTS STORE FOR FREE.

YOUR STARTER "COULD" BE HANGING UP IN THE FLYWHEEL TEETH ALSO... REMOVING THE STARTER, THEN RE-INSTALLING IT, MIGHT GIVE YOU INSIGHT TO WHETHER THIS IS THE ISSUE....CLICKING BUT NO TURNY OVER!

THIS POST/ LINK MAY SORTA HELP YOU, THAT I ANSWERED A WAYS BACK
