This is first generation sbc 350 iM idleing at about 1100 in park and 800 in gear is this correct

I dont know much about the motor The person I got the car from just could tell me its a 350 crate motor. It has hei distributor edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock carb. Car been running bad ever sence dist got moved so I timed it and really seems to run best at 1100 in park and 800 in gear do these rpms sound ok

You can adjust idle speed where you want it with carb linkage adjustment. I would probably set mine to more like 800-500.

It sounds lumpy guy next door says he thinks it has a cam I don't know Im new to this V8 thing my first one is there any way to know this and also if there is would it run better either higher idle like it is

If it has a high lift cam a higher idle is preferred.
