The truck was running and driving fine, then starter went out but wasn't able to get under it do to back problems. Now back is better starter in runs fine but now won't go into reverse, have already changed trans filter. What else should I try before taking it to shop?

If it goes into drive then you know that the mainline pressure is good, so the reverse clutch has probably gone out in it

Well that depends on you. A complete rebuild would be smartest, but some may just replace the reverse. I had a rebuild done recently for 1800. It came with a 3 year 12000 mile warranty.
