1974 VW Beetle

I was wondering if the 1974 VW Beetle came with a block heater or if it needed one at all? And does it need anti-freeze? If it does where would I put it?

I you have a 74 beetle, they are air cooled. There is no radiator or coolant. As far as the block heater, I don't think it was an option.

Let me know if you have other questions. Also, if you live in a cold climate, the heaters were nothing more than air flow from the engine and the defrosters never worked that good.
