I'm trying to remove a fuel pump on my 1954 Ford F-100 but cant seem to figure it out. The gas tank is located under the driver side floorboard. The fuel pump is on the top center area of gas tank. From the top view all you see are the two wires from fuel pump and 6-8 screws. Is there a bracket or ("safety pin") that needs to be removed? Or should I remove the screws on top of pump?

Hi, in one place you said 54 in another, you said 61? My info shows mechanical fuel pump on both.

I'll take a picture and post. The truck is 1954 but the options only go as far as 1961.

I looked at the partsbook for 54 f100, mechanical fuel pump, picture below, only one listed. There maybe an electrical circuit going to the fuel tank, that may be the sending unit for the fuel gage. I have no wiring info for this model year.

Just to add. Follow the fuel line from the carb, it should go to the pump.

Ok, if that is the case. How do you remove the pump?

Find the pump first, look for mounting bolts. Use a wrench, take bolts loose.

You would want to take the fuel lines loose before removing the pump.
