Someone (regrettably )switched the jeep I just bought from a 6 volt to 12,
I just had the generator rebuilt but now it puts out to much juice, If I switch the wires on the (right side facing top of regulater) it won't put out enough,
Is there a way to adjust the regulater? I will be redoing the wiring harness
In this jeepenstein soon!

Manually setting these old voltage regulators is something that should be left to an auto electrician, you can do it your self but you will need a manual that shows you the steps and the correct air gaps for the contactors, there are very few old mechanics about these days that will know what I am talking about, this is just one of the old skills long lost in the trade now.

That's a shame! I would like to find a manual to attempt this. Where would you go for a complete manual? And thanks!

seek and ye will find....... or something a bit more contemporary. Google and get one they will be out there, I restore vintage and veteran cars full time as a professional mechanic, and you would be suppressed what is out there if you keep looking.

By the way, if I had one I would gladly help you out, I live in Australia and work on mainly European and British Pre 1960's sports cars. If you can't find any thing, I can look into sending you something generic that should assist, as most manual set voltage regulators work on a similar principal just settings are achieved differently depending on the type of reg used.

Yeah. I guess it would be much easier to just get a new one set to what I need
I'm not sure if I should restore it back to 6volts or leave it at 12. And don't even know how many amps. I'm not a mechanic, I'm a carpenter/ artist
But I've got the patience and skill to learn how to fix this thing,,,it works now
But someone made a mess , I will send you pix when the sun comes up!
It is a hoot!
