Hi,
1.6 hdi. Bought engine for my car after injector failure on original engine. Fitted it, done diagnostics, but car wont start. Turns over, but not starting. Only error comes up is low fuel pressure. Prime bulb is hard. Filter is full, but I don't get fuel to the rail. Has mechanical diesel pump. Reading on injectors when cranking engine has big variance, but keep in mind that diesel is not going through rail as I cannot get diesel there. Tried to start with quick start, but no luck. What is my next step? How do I get diesel at the rail to the injectors? Any suggestions?

Hey URSHULA,

Can you please describe what you replaced when changing the engine?
Are the injectors and accessories from the new engine?
Was this engine known to run before fitting?

Can you list the fault codes, after clearing codes and cranking for the non start please?

If only a low fuel rail pressure fault what is the reading from the fuel rail pressure sensor saying after priming and then while cranking?
What pressure have you got from the Low pressure fuel system?

Generally with these engines as you say if the prime bulb feels full of diesel it should bleed up and reach pressure okay.

Codes and as much fuel system data whilst cranking as you can give will be a good start.

Regards, Joe
