My wife before we met had her brother change the engine in her 2003 1500HD with a 6.0. With another 6.0. After she had blew a rod on the first one. Didn’t change anything. Just the engine. About a week after the truck went into limp mode. And we don’t know why.

I was thinking because they didn’t switch the computer with the engine. But I have no idea.

I am looking on where to start. Do we have to get it reprogrammed or I just don’t know because I wasn’t around when the job was done but she been hounding me to try to get this fixed.

Hi,

If the engine was from the same year, make, and model, the computer should be fine. Have you scanned it for diagnostic trouble codes?

If you haven't, you really should start there to see what is stored. Do that and let me know what codes are found. If you already have, just send me the codes.

Here is a quick video showing how it is done:

Let me know.

Yes, and the only code I keep getting is for a throttle position sensor and replace that but still get the same code. And the dash was saying low oil pressure so we replaced that sensor on the back of the engine by the fire wall. It starts up fine. And will run. But just in a limp mode.I try to pull the codes again when I get home this afternoon.

Hi,

Let me know what code for the TPS you are getting. Also, if you recheck it, let me know if there are new ones.

Take care,

Joe
