We recently acquired the vehicle listed above. Not the full size. It is a manual transmission. The truck drove fine during the test drive, as we drove it off the truck wouldn't go over 50 no matter what gear it is in. When attempting to go up any hill it won't go over 20 if anything at all. Second, the water pump needs to be replaced. Will the fans need to be removed to do this?

Hi,

It sounds like you have a few different issues. Did the vehicle run properly for the test drive?

As far as the running/power loss, I need you to check for diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a link that shows how it's done. You don't need a scan tool to retrieve codes.

Now, the water pump. To get you started, here is a link that shows in general how it is done:

If you look at the attachments below, they are the directions specific to your vehicle for the replacement of the water pump. As far as the fan, yes it will need removed and reinstalled on the new pump. This will require a special tool that holds the fan clutch while loosening the nut retaining the clutch to the pump/pulley. However, most parts stores will lend you the tool to do it. Pic 3 below shows what the special tools look like.

Let me know what you find and if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you for your reply. I will post an update once we have successfully replaced the pump. I do have another question that I forgot to add. The supply line for the fuel is missing. You have to add gas straight into the tank. Could this be a reason for lack of power?

Hi,

Let me know how the water pump works out for you. For the other question, I need you to start a new thread specific to that question. We try to keep them specific to one topic so it is helpful to others. I hope you understand.

As far as the fuel, if you are referring to the filler tube, that is certainly an issue. I will watch for your new post. Just copy and paste that new question. Here is the link:

Take care,

Joe
