Whirring sound while driving at highway, then when slowing down, and exiting highway motor chugs then stalls. After a few minutes I can re-start and all is okay. This has happened twice in one week.

Normally these types of noises are gear or bearing related, but it sounds like due to the engine stalling that the fuel pump is failing.

The way we need to verify this is to monitor the fuel pressure when this happens. That means we need to get it to happen again in order to verify it.

Please see the info attached on checking fuel pressure as well.

Basically, I would just hook the gauge up and tape it to the windshield so that you can watch this when it happens, and you don't have to worry about trying to hook the gauge when it happens.

Please let us know what you find with this, and we can go from there.

Thanks

Thank you for your response. It really helps to know a little before you take your car in for an unknown problem. Also, I am amazed at your service. I expected a lot of advertising and hidden pricing for your mechanical knowledge and got a straight upfront answer to my question. Unheard of in today's world. Thanks again.
