Hello! Thank you for your help. I took my car to a mechanic for an oil change and because my check engine light was on. They said it was a problem with "fuel tank pressure sensor" and "vent control solenoid" and they replaced them; all told, it cost about $400.00. I also had my airbag light come on, but they couldn't fix that and didn't know what it could be.

I drove the car home and now both back turn signals no longer work, the front headlight is out, and the trunk (which uses my key fob, not a physical key) all don't work.

I called them and they said they had nothing to do with it and it was a coincidence that the day I dropped it off these things worked and the day I picked them up they all broke on their own.

They did look at it and said the bulbs and sockets are all good, so it must be something electrical.

What could have happened? Is it something easy, or cheap to fix? I think I have to take it to the dealership, but it's the holidays and I won't have my car for at least a week.

Please help! Thank you and happy new year!

Hi,

It sounds like it could be related to the body control module or a power supply issue. I looked through the wiring schematics related to the components you mentioned and don't see how the three things tie together at this point.

So, I need a little more info. Which headlamp doesn't work and is it the high beam, low beam, or both, and which side of the vehicle is it located on?

When you turn the signals on, do the front flash and not the rear? If so, do they flash really fast?

Do other functions on the key fob still work and the only affected component be the trunk?

Let me know as much as you can so I can better help you diagnose the issue.

Take care and I'll watch for your reply.

Joe

Hi Joe,

Thank you for your quick response.

For the headlight, it is the passenger side, and only the low beam is broken (not the high beam).

The two front turn signals do work, and both of the back don't, but even the front ones blink fast.

Thank you again!

Hi,

Did they check the headlamp bulb? if low works on the left side, the right should be getting power.

Do me a favor. On the passenger side headlamp wiring harness, locate a blue wire with a green tracer. That is what powers the low beam on that side. Turn the low beam lights on and see if there is power to that wire. Here is a link you may find helpful:

Additionally, I need you to check fuses 6 and 25 in the under-hood fuse box. In addition to checking the fuse, confirm there is power to and from them.

I have a feeling you will find one or both are bad. Let me know.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

See pic below I attached a pic showing the fuses to check in the under-hood fuse box.
