Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Volvo S80 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When the engine is running under 1000 rpms, it stalls out. Also it hesitates or it surges after I stop at a red light. This is intermittent.

Hi, and thank you for the donation, its greatly appreciated, I think your problem is quite simple, however it may be a combination of two things, one I think you need a throttle bore service, which means a good cleaning of the throttle body and plate, and two, you may have a problem with the idle air control valve, as this helps keep the car running when your foot comes off of the gas pedal. You should do the cleanig first, and if that doesnt clear you up, then have your idle air control valve looked at. I will show you how to do a throttle bore service in the next post, look out for it
thanx

Hi, again, a collegue of mine has informed me that I gave the wrong info for this model, so I will relay what he explained to me. Which is very helpful

These vehicles have an electronic throttle module so the idle air control valve is done with using a module instead. Another problem also is that if the the throttle is dirty, then they need to have the pcv system checked for restrictions. If it is, then it needs to be cleaned out and maybe even need an oil breather box replacement? If all that is O.K. Then there could be an issue with the throttle. Sometimes a software upgrade will do some calibrations and take care of the problem but sometimes it can get a little more complicated and full diagnosis of the charging system and battery voltage drop tests may be needed, ultimately possibly leading to a throttle module replacement. I just wanted to send you a private message just to let you know there is no idle air control valve on this vehicle.
