ok so i took my car into volvo, who has been trying to figure out why my car has trouble starting during the first start of the day (meaning cold start after car has sat idle for appx 8 hrs or more). other than that, the car starts flawlessly for the rest of the day. volvo, over two different service visits, have given my 2004 volvo s60 2.5t 31000 miles...a computer upgrade, and fuel throttle cleaning. still the problem persists.... anything else i can do or recommend to the folks at volvo? any actual faulty parts that engage the cold start injector? please help.

thx in advance...

The CEL tells you there's problem within the computer's engine management systems.

Take it to autozone and get it read and comeback with the code/s.

as the weather gets colder i thought the problem would get worse, but the first start issue is only intermentant now since my last visit with volvo dealerr... at which time they cleaned my fuel throttles. so, total work done to date at volvo is a computer upgrade, fuel injector install (recall), and fuel throttle cleaning.

so now, i may have to start the s60 twice in the mornings 3 out of 7 days a week rather than everyday... we are headed in the right direction at least. what else could be left to check in order to have it start correctly 100% of the time?
(remember its only the first start of the day)

Get the fuel pressure check, this will rule out a problem with pressure.
