Cv boots

Suspension problem
1986 Volkswagen Quantum Four Wheel Drive Manual 125,00 miles

My CV joints are growling and the boots are cracked. I'm told that from a total labor and materials cost standpoint it may be cheaper to buy and install remanufactured front axles rather than messing around with installing new boots. Would appreciate your advice.

Hello,

That is correct....

with the boot being cracked/split the chance of CV Joint Damage is very high and if you were to only replace the boots and refill with grease you would end up usually with a couple months needing to replace the CV Axles. So to do the job right the first time you should replace the Axles.
