2001 VW Passat Automatic Tiptronic 122k miles - about a month ago I noticed when I put it into Reverse from Park I would have to wait about 10 seconds with my foot on the brake until I could feel it go into gear before I could accelerate. Now, I have to really press hard with my foot on the brake and the car bucks or jerks when doing it. It doesn't do this from any other gear to any other gear and only when it is warmed up.

Hi LindaStanley,

Thank you for the donation.

The delay in reverse engaging could be due to control faults and there are no manual testings available. Specialised equipment are needed to test and diagnose the problem and unless you have the test equipment, you would have to send vehicle to a specialist to be diagnosed and rectified.

Does the problem happen with every shift from Park to Reverse?
Does it happen when shifting from Neutral to Reverse?
