Only the passenger side floods. Which is really bad because the computer is under the front passenger side. This is the second time it happens. The first time I took it to a mechanic and he dried it up got the computer to work again. He hosed the car down but could not figure out where it was going through. It started raining badly again and it flooded once again. Do you have any ideas where the water could be coming in through.

Hi
Hope I can help with this.

Unfortunately, this is about the only issue that these Passats ever have.
Basically what happens is that in the bulkhead, where the battery is situated, there are 2 drain holes on either side of the bulkhead. In these holes are rubber bungs or grommets. With water and dirt that comes down from the screen, these grommets get blocked and dont allow water to drain from the bulkhead. As a result, the bulkhead fills up with water and enters into the vehicle from the plenum chamber area. This is just under the front windscreen where the pollen filter sits.
The best way to stop this happening is to remove these grommets to allow the water to drain out. You may have to remove the battery to get to the grommets, but you can also remove them from under the vehicle, looking upwards.
Also check the bulkhead regularly to remove any debris, leaves or other dirt that may cause a blockage.
Water entering into the vehicle can cause majoy problems, especially with the electrics in the vehicle.

Hope this helps!
