That is a variable intake manifold switch-over valve. It's responsible for changing the length of the intake runners during higher rpm's for increased engine performance. If you are in a pinch you can just block off the vacuum line that goes to this valve with a golf tee, bolt, or anything that will fit in the vacuum hose for that matter. If you have trouble disconnecting the line to the valve just cut it in half, you can repair that later, and plug it there.

So I don't need that black thing with the spring in it sealed shut? Or at all? Sorry I sound like a moron right now. Super stressed/rushed trying pack etc. I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. Because this old guy is telling me it isn't broke in half. Only picture I see of it are completely sealed. Thanks

The black thing looks like it has come apart, which they do when they become brittle. Originally they just snap together and have a vacuum diaphragm inside of it. You can cut that hose that I put an X on in the picture I sent and it should stop the vacuum leak, the check engine light will come on but the engine will not break down or anything. Safe travels.
