So I have the vehicle listed above with a v6 engine. That will not run on 6, 4 and 6 cylinders are not working at all. Injectors done, coil packs done, fuel pressure done, compression is fine, swapped coil packs around.

I have even run the motor with the coil packs with a plug in them earthed to the body and they are sparking fine.

With the inlet plenum off you can see the injectors firing.

I am lost.

Hello my name is Dave.

Sorry to be there bearer of bad news, but these ECU's are notorious for burning coil drivers. I have 2 05 Tributes which are identical to the Escape except for body panels. I have had to replace the ECU in both of mine for this issue. If you could get the exact codes it would be greatly helpful in a proper diagnosis. If you have to replace the ECU and decide to try a used one keep in mind you need to be able to get the key with it or you will have to spend a considerable amount of money to have one programmed to the ECU.

So lets start with the codes, here is a link to our tutorial on retrieving your codes:

If you could retrieve your codes and let us know what they are we will be able to better assist you in narrowing down your problem. We look forward to hearing back from you and thank you for using 2CarPros!

Dave,

Thanks for you reply, I have finally discovered that someone had fitted the harness the wrong way around on the coils packs (car was purchased not going).

Now I have also found the issue that was originally diagnosed as a head gasket (misfire) to be the same issue. Finally the original complaint that was made by the owner was a lack of power which I have since found out to be a failed engine cat and it had totally blocked the exhaust in front of the center cat, win win for me.

Thanks again.
