I replaced a bad brake master cylinder and bad booster. Brake pads and shoes were replaced a year ago and drive less than 1200 miles annually. I attempted to bleed system from rear to front with help and purchased a pneumatic bleeder. Bubbles continue to flow through clear tubing. The tubing attached to nipple has a tight fit. I used up three small bottles of brake fluid and just purchased a 32oz. I had replaced Master cylinder and improved but the original booster was not working properly. It was obvious to me because the rod that connects to brake pedal was disengaged, basically just hanging in there. I really appreciate if you are able to help me. I will communicate with you to inform you of end result. Thank you. Randy Garcia, Barstow, California.

Hi Randy, if you are getting bubbles, there has to be air entering at some point. Based on your description, the brakes are working better. Please describe how they are working.

Additionally, if you press on the brake pedal and apply constant pressure, does the pedal slowly go to the floor? Also, does the truck have anti-lock brakes?

I attached the directions from my manual below. However, it seems you are doing everything listed. Take a look and let me know if you see anything different.

Let me know.

Joe

Hello Joe! Thank you for the quick response. There are no more bubbles after bleeding yesterday November 1, thankfully. Unfortunately, there is still no hardening of the pedal. Yes, it does have an ABS system. Do you think it has air in the hydraulic ABS unit at the rear passenger side brake? I believe that’s what it’s called. According to a diagram I found online. I attached photos of it. There is a bleeder, am I able to bleed this hydraulic ABS unit?

Hi,

If you are able to bleed it, I would try. However, describe how the brake pedal reacts when you press the pedal. Does it go to the floor? Are the rear brakes properly adjusted?

Let me know.

Joe
