Transmission will not go in gear

Reverse quit, then drive and 3rd gear then 1st gear, turn off car for a few minutes and the forewarned gears work for a short period of time, then quit again.

Hello,

Please check the transmission fluid level, if okay then scan the PCM for trouble codes to see if it has to do with the computer.
