Hi,

I would like to ask you about a transmission issue. When shifting from first to second gear there is hesitation, it shifts one to two seconds late and also jerks the car little bit. Makes some loud noise as well. But after I drive it about fifteen minutes and it warms up then it shifts smoothly. He way it is supposed to. If I leave it a couple of hours and the car cools down the same issue occurs again. All the mounts are new, the engine sensor is new. I also replaced the transmission with another used one and changed the fluid and the filter but still have exactly the same issue. No mechanic could find out what it is. Could you help me with this? I will be very thankful!

Hey OZYYYYYYY,

I would say given that you have replaced the transmission and you can rule out transmission/fluid/filter issues that you then need to ensure that all of the sensor inputs are plausible.

With the fault occurring from cold I would advise if you can access a scanner with live data to check all of the temperature readings. From cold I would check that all fluid temperature readings are near to ambient temperature and then monitor whilst driving to warm up the engine/transmission. If any of the temps do not change at all or are obviously not correct you can then troubleshoot the sensor involved.

If you don't have any temperature readings that are implausible I have found a TSB regards reprogramming the PCM/TCU.

I have attached the TSB below.

If you get a dealer to carry out the reprogramming you may find that the update may rectify your issue.

How would you describe the noise?

Regards, Joe
