Transmission problems, reverse works fine but it wont drive forward. The fluid was low nearly dry. I added one quart Hexron III as indicated in the manual. Still no drive. Do I need more? Is it some other issue?

any suggestions or insight would be a major help.

thank you kindly,
B

Look at your dipstick put in drive then reverse then check fluid if at full mark it is okay. But being down a quart you probably burnt a seal up so might need a rebuild have a transmission professional check it.

Fluid mark is still low. Was hesitant to add more.

Do how I said in first reply. It must go up to the full or at least above add mark. If lucky the transmission will work, but it had to leak out so find that.
