Transmission goes front in neutral and drive, but does not reverse. Has no transmission leak. Has gas, enough engine oil, and clean transmission fluid. The cables that shift seem to work without sliding gears without any problems, but the car does not reverse. What could it be?

Can I ask if the reverse lights work? If not it sounds like the transmission range sensor has gone out. Here is the location so you can change it out.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Thank you so much for responding, but the reverse lights are turning on. So what do you think?

Okay, the next place I would look is the shift solenoid to test the signal from the PCM you will need to tap into the wire using a test light. Here is the transmission wiring guide on how to use a test light and the solenoid location:

and

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken
