C4 trans

I have a 1966 mustang. It has a c4 auto trans.I got the trans from a salvage yard. It shifts into reverse and from first to second but not to third. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks tim

I thought it might be a 2 speed too. But when it is in d you shift down to 2 it doesnt downshift. And when shifting from 2 to d it doesnt shift.

It's likely because the linkage is not in synch

The linkage seems to be ok. It goes from park to r to nutral then to drive but when im doin 60 then shift down to 2nd it just stays the same.

Valve body in the trans? I assume you've flushed the trans system?
