I never had any problems with the transmission until last week, but I don’t know if I have transmission issues or it’s just some sensor. Out of nowhere, after being stopped at a light then making a turn the transmission stops shifting. It started happening a week ago and since then, it’s happened three times. Two out of the three times I was at a stop light just before I started moving. The odometer moved up to 20 MPH and was going up and down while being stopped at the light. After that, when I started to move the transmission wouldn’t shift, I had to pull over put it in park and then it shifted normally again. The third time I was moving slow after being parked I made a 180 degree turn and the front right wheel felt like it was going over bumps into the turn, after getting out of the turn the transmission wouldn’t shift until I put it in park and then re engaged. Any ideas?

Just to be clear as to what the issue is. The speedometer will act erratic and then it will not shift until you put it in park and then back in drive.

When it will not shift, do the RPMs go up at all like it is in neutral but it will not move?

This could be a speed sensor, or a transmission issue so let's cover both.

Start with checking for codes.

Next, we need to check the fluid and make sure it is at the proper level. Here is a guide that will help with this:

Once we know these two things then we can make the next decision. The speedometer acting erratic is a speed sensor issue but that would not cause the transmission to go to neutral.

So, let's start with this and go from there. Thanks
