Transmission does not engage drive?

Transmission will shift smoothly into reverse and neutral but will not engage drive. No jerking, no change in RPM from N to D. Happened suddenly, only symptom was it jerked into Drive 1 time before it happened.

Hi,

The idea that it hit first hard and then this happened leads me to think there is an issue with the transmission line pressure. By any chance, does the check engine light stay on when the engine is running? If it does, I recommend having the computers scanned for diagnostic trouble codes.

Next, there were problems with the transmission cooler getting plugged and restricting line pressure. Has the transmission ever been serviced? If it was, was the cooler flushed?

Let me know your thoughts and as much info as you can think of. For example, is the fluid clean, full, and without a burnt smell?
