I have a 1994 Toyota tercel with a rebuilt engine with about 55,000 miles. I drove it for a year with no problems, had an oil change about 2500 miles ago. On last leg of the trip if suddenly started driving rough sputtering at low speeds until in 4th gear. Now it takes forever to get wrmed up and uses a lot more gas than before. I have heard it may be a stem problem, I also believe I may have a smsall leak in the upper exhaust system?

There could be a couple of things, first check the plugs and plug wires, if you can not find something then get a compression check done, avalve may have gone bad or a piston so the best hing after checking the plugs and wires is get the compression check done to see if there is any internal damage and it will show which piston is having the problem.
