Engine problem
1996 Toyota Pickup Two Wheel Drive Manual 154129 miles

I have a toyota tacoma 1996. It has 154000 miles, 2.4L. I start engine an will run for a little bit an jus stall its self out, if I try to give it gas it will backfire.
if I keep it at hight rpms, like at 4000 it will do fine but when I back off I will go to idle for jus a lilttle bit and then just stalls.

I am having the same issue. It wasnot bad at first. It would idle at times but at other times die out. I found that if I gave it gas when starting it would be fine. Then just hold the gas on to about 1500 rpm and it would be fine. Now all I can get it to do is start, it runs for 5-10 seconds and then dies. If I give it more gas it sputters and backfires a bit.

I know the engine is not shot. It was running great a few minutes before it wont run for prolonged periods of time.

Could this bemy O2 sensor?

PLEASE HELP
