Hello. I have a toyota tamaraw fx (auv) with a 5K carburator type engine. It has a 200,000km+ mileage, 15000 cc engine. My problem is the idle is not smooth. The rpm would suddenly drop to about 4 - 5,000 but would recover immediately. I tried to raise the idle to 8,000 to 10,000 but it is still there.

When was the last major tune-up? You can do this find the fuel mixture screw-close it all the way in and back it out 2 turns-now adjust the idle screw to 9,000, now go back to the mixture screw start closing it-one at a time till you feel the engine idling rough, back out the screw till it starts smoothing out-then do the other one-once you complete adjusting the mix screw raise it to 8000.
