How do you tell the transmission is slipping

When I stop my car, and release the brake pedal, the car won't go, (usually it would go 3 to 5 miles per hour before).
Could that be the idle speed is too low, or the transmission is slipping.
My car is corolla 1993, automatic, EFI.
Thank you.

I am sure you have driven enough to know that if you start a car put it in drive and press the gas pedal the car is supposed to accelerate. If the engine revs up and you don't go anywhere, it's the tranny. If The engine won't rev then you have an engine problem.
