Car starting problems

Hello, I have a 98 toyota corolla. Sometimes my car will start right away, sometimes it takes 4 or more tries  . Once it starts it's fine. When it won't it doesn't even turn over, you just hear a "click". So far I have been able to get it to start but I want to figure out what is wrong. I know it's not the battery as I tested that and it is fine. Could my starter be going out or sticking? What on earth could be the cause of this?????????????????????????????????? I appreciate any help :D Thank you.

sounds like the starter. when this happened to me it would start only when it was cold or when a friend would tap the starter with a crow bar while i turned the key. happened when I stopped to get gas--when it was hot.

Replace the contact points only ,not the whole starter.
